Serena Williams announces pregnancy via social media, then deletes post

In February, the superstar singer posted a photo with her baby bump on Instagram to announce the news.

Williams, who won the Australian Open in January, announced her engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in December. Serena Williams has not played since, citing a knee injury. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. She wrote on the bottom of the pic, "20 weeks".

The star was a few weeks pregnant when she beat her sister Venus to win the Australian Open back in January.

Serena Williams just can't stop winning at life. (Bustle has reached out to Williams' rep regarding the post being deleted.) She captioned it, "20 weeks".

After pulling the Snapchat post there was speculation as to whether Williams was just playing with fans even as good wishes flowed in from fellow celebs and US Open Tennis.

In her acceptance speech, she said, "I've had people look down on me, put me down because I didn't look like them - I look stronger", she explained.

Williams, who will return to world number one next week, would be eligible to retain her ranking under the WTA Special Ranking Rule if she is ready to play her first tournament within 12 months of giving birth. That's always something I've wanted as long as I could remember.

We are excited to hear more from Serena and Alexis! "I love the modern one-piece", she said during an exclusive SI video clip - referencing the on-trend one-piece suit with the very high cuts.

Lawyer Fechter said there has not been an athlete of Williams' prominence who stepped away while still dominant, but he pointed out that pregnancy only made non-sports celebrity Kim Kardashian more popular.

The pair are now holidaying in idyllic surroundings (although they have not disclosed the location), and looked blissfully happy in Serena's latest Instagram update.
