Lorde Debuts 'Sober' at Pre-Coachella Gig

But fans who were lucky enough to snag tickets got to hear tracks from her forthcoming album, Melodrama, before anyone else. In the meantime, Lorde's Coachella set will be streaming at 9:20 p.m.

Her album so far appears to be about break ups, "teenage cringe" and general self-induced havoc.

The song is called Homemade Dynamite, has an upbeat, clubby vibe, and includes the lines: "So let's let things come out of the woodwork / I'll give you my best side, tell you all my best lies". "And then half an hour later you can be in the bathroom like oh my god I look like a crime scene".

It's been nearly three years since youthful Grammy victor Lorde last played an actual concert (as opposed to awards shows SNL), a streak the "Royals" singer broke last night with a surprise show in California.

She said her new track, Homemade Dynamite, was all about the good times. The Kiwi songstress even performed live sound effects on stage, making an explosion noise midway through the song. She first performed at the festival in 2014.

"Melodrama" is set to be released on June 16.

And it means Lorde has officially continued her streak of speaking directly to the secrets in my heart that I wish were known and seen.

The ten-song setlist was comprised mostly of old material, including Pure Heroine hits "Royals" and "Tennis Court".

Lorde promised "surprises" during yesterday's Coachella performance - and her biggest came in a new song that's received rave reviews.
