The Harris County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the death of a deputy constable who was shot ambusth-style in a parking lot in the Texas city of Baytown early Monday morning. Chief Deputy Clint Greenwood, a 30-year law enforcement veteran, as the victim in this morning's shooting. The shooter remains at large.

The motive of the shooting is now unknown as well as how many people were involved.

To date, the courthouse and neighboring Sterling High School is on lockdown, according to Goose Creek CISD.

"The Harris County Precinct has suffered a great loss", Harris County Precinct 3 Constable Sherman Eagleton said at a press conference. He was shot at about 7:00 a.m.in the Baytown courthouse and taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died.

Law enforcement agencies across Texas offered their condolences Monday.

Another deputy nearby rushed to his aid, applying pressure onto the deputy constable's neck. My office stands ready to assist in any way possible.
