Las Vegas police investigating bus shooting outside Cosmopolitan on Strip

Around 11:30 a.m. Las Vegas police reported that they were investigating a shooting that occurred on South Las Vegas Boulevard.

The gunman was barricaded inside a bus along the strip, prompting a partial closure of the busy boulevard, police said.

One person is dead and another wounded after a shooting on a bus in Las Vegas, but the suspect remained barricaded inside in a tense standoff, police said.

Officer Larry Hadfield told reporters at 1 p.m. that two victims were taken to University Medical Center. The victim's condition is unknown at this time.

The suspects in that incident wore black suits or tuxedos, police Lieutenant Carlos Hank told the Las Vegas Journal-Review. "It's just insane." Police attributed initial reports of an active shooter to people hearing the sound of the glass in jewelry cases being broken. That part of the strip is where the luxury hotels The Bellagio and The Cosmopolitan are located.

Las Vegas Boulevard has been shut down from Harmon to Flamingo.
