Unconscious Criss Angel Rushed To ER After Straitjacket Escape Goes Horribly Wrong

A rep for Angel did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Criss Angel is back to his old tricks. He was discharged a few hours later.

He was then lowered onto the stage at the Luxor Hotel, and taken to hospital. During the performance, while hanging upside down suspended by his feet, attempting to escape from a straitjacket, Angel was spun around for nearly two minutes before he became motionless and lost consciousness.

After the illusionist lost consciousness, he "was evaluated and released early this morning". The magician apparently went unconscious in mid-air while performing the trick and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Jon Katsilometes, a columnist for the Las Vegas Review Journal, tweeted that he has been "confidently told" that Angel will be performing on Saturday night, although he points out that "we have yet to hear any official explanation of last night's incident". Angel also had to cancel a fundraiser appearance on Saturday, for Make-a-Wish of Southern Nevada, according to the statement, instead sending a donation of $100,000 "on behalf of his pediatric cancer nonprofit HELP".

Criss Angel Finds Love...

One fan in the audience, Peter Sehl, took to the Mindfreak Facebook page to share his version of the events. "Awesome return Criss!" wrote one audience member.

Criss was attempting the portion of the show where he tries to escape a straitjacket while hanging upside down. Cast members then brought a stool on stage, untied Angel, and rushed him offstage.

Criss suffered a shoulder injury when he performed a similar stunt similar to this in New York City's Times Square in 2013.
