Emily Blunt Looks Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in First'Mary Poppins Returns

Emily Blunt replaces Julie Andrews as the practically ideal nanny, who's reunited with the Banks family 20 years after the events of the original film.

With the truly magical casting of the "Girl on the Train" actress as Poppins and "Hamilton" maestro Lin-Manuel Miranda as her lamplighter friend named Jack, the project is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films on the horizon.

And the infamous carpet bag is still there, although it's had a bit of a makeover from the looks of things. The screenplay is by Oscar nominee David Magee ("Life of Pi") based on The Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers with Oscar nominee and Tony victor Marc Shaiman ("Hairspray") and Emmy nominee and Tony victor Scott Wittman ("Hairspray") writing all new songs with Shaiman composing an original score.

Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Emily Mortimer and Julie Walters are also featured in the Rob Marshall film, which is now in production in London.

What's more, Dick Van Dyke will also make a very special appearance in the sequel. In the story, Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer), who were kids in Disney's 1964 "Mary Poppins", have grown up. Rob Marshall is directing the new adventure, which floats into theaters December 25, 2018. She also brings in her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Meryl). The screenplay is by David Magee based on The Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers, with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman writing all new songs and Shaiman composing an original score.
