NCAA Tournament bracket revealed early on CBS: Top 16 seed expert predictions

For the first time, the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee released its top 16 teams in preview of March Madness.

First, the rankings. Villanova is the overall No. 1 seed, placed in the East, with the other No. 1 seeds being Kansas (Midwest), Baylor (South) and Gonzaga (West). The No. 3 seeds are Kentucky, Florida, Arizona and Virginia. The East also includes Louisville, Kentucky and UCLA, with Oregon, Virginia and West Virginia filling out the West. It has apparently very much impressed the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, which has the Gators ranked No. 11 and in line to receive a No. 3 seed in its initial rankings release of the 2016-17 season. FSU will be in action on Saturday night at Notre Dame.

Mark Hollis had no conflicts of interest in giving a sneak peek of the NCAA Tournament's top 16 teams.

The top 16 teams in college basketball now know where they stand.

Hollis reminded viewers that with more than 1,300 games remaining before the final selections are made, the bracket could be significantly different on March 12.

Baylor (21-3) gets the top seed in the South Regional, which ends in Memphis.

The committee placed the Wildcats, now ranked No. 2 in the nation, in the East Region, in which the semifinals and finals will be played at Madison Square Garden in NY. While Wisconsin and Purdue will be safely in the field, this could be awful news for the conference's bubble teams, such as Michigan State, Indiana, Minnesota and Michigan. "The separation is great". They were the second, third, and fourth overall seeds, respectively. Hollis said Wisconsin and Purdue were among the teams that were just outside that group. Gonzaga is now the No. 1 team in the AP Poll and a win over Saint Mary's could earn them a higher seed. The most interesting part, though, were two other teams in that region: Louisville and Kentucky.
