New Edition: The Movie tells the story of how five kids from the projects in Roxbury, Massachusetts became the R&B boy band New Edition. Following the momentous celebration, HH spoke to the guys about being honored, being back together and recording new music.

"The New Edition Story", a three-night miniseries that premieres on BET Tuesday, chronicles the group's history through its eventual reunion performance at a BET special in 2005.

"It was really cool getting to know everybody, meeting Michael Bivins, not even knowing who Michael Bivins was at the time". In its opening scene, the biopic finds Bivins (played by Bryshere Y. Gray), Ricky Bell (Ellijah Kelly), Bobby Brown (Woody McClain), Ralph Tresvant (Algee Smith), Ronnie DeVoe (Keith Powers) and Johnny Gill (Luke James) in Las Cruces, N.M., in 1997. - Reuters picBrown left the group in 1986 for a solo career. As they promote the film, the members have been expressing their gratitude to loyal fans, but fans have a lot to thank the members of New Edition for, too.

Brown - who had a high-profile battle with drugs in the past - was kicked out of the band in 1985 for his behaviour, before Gill was recruited for New Edition's 1988 album Heart Break.

Before the cameras rolled, the child and adult actors were put through a three-week boot camp during which they learned New Edition's songs and choreography, and it paid off-they all come across as natural and confident when they are performing New Edition's music and dance routines. The discography of the New Edition collective is a coming-of-age story. "And they were doing that on a consistent basis", he said.

Before their Billboard Hot 100 hit "Candy Girl", Ricky Bell sang the main lead for the group, but Ralph quickly emerged as the answer to the Jackson 5's Michael Jackson.
