Patrick Bamford signs for Boro

Share

Bamford won Championship Player of the Year two seasons ago when he scored 19 goals for Boro during an acclaimed loan spell.

Boro will probably be a tougher nut to crack than Palace and Aitor Karanka has a pretty resilient group of players on his hands now.

Middlesbrough are four points clear of the relegation zone and Boateng, who helped the club win the League Cup in 2004, believes avoiding the drop would make it a successful return to the top flight, having spent seven years in the Championship.

Dimitri Payet has created more goalscoring chances than any other player in the Premier League this season (74) and 51 more than any other West Ham player (Lanzini - 23).

Despite sealing a permanent move away from Chelsea, Bamford has not ruled out going back to the West London outfit and finally making a Premier League appearance for the Blues.

"I said always the main position I want to strengthen is the wings as the only quick player we have is Adama [Traore]", he said. He only recently returned from an unsuccessful loan spell at Burnley and the subsequent homecoming has proven to be short-lived.

On Andy Carroll: "He's got a whiplash injury, that's what I was told from the physios", said Bilic.

"I was delighted to be coming back here".

"I wanted him at that time and I wanted him this time", Karanka said of Bamford. "I owe a lot to the chairman Mr Gibson, to the manager and the fans as they stood by me when the times were tough and have given me a second chance". "And with Gaston, I don't know anything because the club hasn't received anything official from any club".
