Golden Globe Awards 2017: Glimpses and more

Awards season is well underway, the Golden Globes taking place this Sunday.

I'll go out on a limb, though, and say that "La La Land" will win the usually anemic "best picture, musical/comedy" category, by strength of actually being a musical, and that either "Moonlight" or "Manchester by the Sea" will win the drama category.

"I heard Trump will be live tweeting during the show, so that's very exciting - #unfunny", Fallon quipped.

If you can not watch the Golden Globes on television, NBC has its own live stream on its website in select markets, for which you'll need a cable subscription.

But before The Tonight Show host begins to entertain viewers with his comedic brilliance, the annual event will feature the glamorous looks of celebrities at the red carpet, where they are certain to flaunt hot trends in sexy and elegant outfits.

In the movies categories, the top award of the night is for Best Motion Picture, Drama where the following are nominated: "Hacksaw Ridge", "Hell Or High Water", "Lion," "Manchester By The Sea" and "Moonlight".

You will need to log in with a pay-TV provider.

But, while the Golden Globe results will certainly generate more buzz about the various winners' and losers' respective Oscars chances, there is more at stake for the major television networks and movie studios. "Well, this is the first time I think that my guests are the audience", he said. The Golden Globe airs live on RTL CBS Entertainment in the Philippines on Monday, Jan. 9 (Manila time), starting with red-carpet coverage at 8 a.m., and show at 9 a.m., with a prime time encore at 9 p.m.

Jimmy Fallon will be hosting the Golden Globe Awards for the first time ever!

The musical romance starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is the clear frontrunner of the 74 Golden Globes, with seven nominations.

In television, "The Crown", "Game of Thrones", "Stranger Things", "This Is Us" and "Westworld" earned nods in the drama category, while "Atlanta", "black-ish", "Mozart in the Jungle", "Transparent" and "Veep" were selected among the year's best comedies. The next two years Showtime's Homeland took home the top prize for a drama series before AMC's Breaking Bad broke though in 2014.
