Facts About the 'Notebook Odyssey — Samsung Gaming Laptop

Samsung Jumps Into Gaming Laptops With Notebook Odyssey

Samsung's gaming notebook will be available in two models, the Odyssey 15 and Odyssey 17. While the EXT model is equipped with Intel Core i7 7500U processor, the 15-inch model offers an unknown 7th gen Core i7 processor.

"Today, serious and even casual gamers seek computing devices that not only pack power for intense graphics-rich games but also feature a stylish and portable design", said Choi. The new Notebook 9, available in 13-inch and 15-inch variants, have been completely restyled from a year ago, opting for a more traditional block design versus the blade-like design of the first-generation of Notebook 9.

Among the positive aspects of Samsung's Odyssey computers is the HexaFlow Vent, a perforated panel at the bottom. The initial lineup includes the Notebook Odyssey 15 and the Notebook Odyssey 17, which are (you guessed it) 15- and 17-inch laptops. Both notebooks are limited to 1080p, but that's actually a good decision since a higher resolution isn't preferable on a gaming notebook and if by chance you do find yourself limited, you can always purchase a 4K display down the road. This can also be opened up to access storage and memory for post-purchase upgrades. It measures 15.6-inch in dimension and is smooth, simple, and boost of an all-black interior. The GPU for the 17-inch model (8.3 pounds) hasn't been locked in yet, but it'll hopefully be an Nvidia 1070 or 1080, which are the current top of the line for laptops.

For the rest of the internals, the 17-inch model comes with 64GB of DDR4 RAM and 512SSD+1TB hard drive storage. During the launch event, Samsung disclosed that the Notebook 9 series offers a blend of weightlessness, performance, and portability on the go.

The 15-inch Notebook 9 weighs in at just 2.73 pounds and measure at 0.61 inches thick. The 15-inch version has an NVIDIA GTX1050 of either 4GB or 2GB version. As of this writing, no price or release date has been announced by Samsung.

The biggest selling point of the 17.3-inch notebook is that it provides support for Thunderbolt 3 through a Type-C USB connection.
